It’s March, and I am already thinking ahead to Christmas. (FlyLady would be so proud!)
Alex brought home a spool knitter he’d been working with at school, and I had to go get a crochet hook for him to use with it. Being in Michael’s, surrounded by yarn, made me think of my grandma and how she taught me to do a basic crochet stitch. One thing led to another, and $35 later, I walked out of the store with several balls of yarn and a plan to crochet not one, not two, not even three, but FOUR scarves for my kids as “Mrs. Santa” gifts. (Am I crazy? Don’t be so quick to answer, okay?)
I’ve already done four inches on Alex’s, and about 2 1/2 on Kendra’s. I can see the appeal of crochet and/or knitting. It keeps your hands busy and frees your mind to wander, which is something I don’t get when I’m cross-stitching. I like that there’s no counting; no pattern to follow. The only downfall is that my carpal tunnel is killing me.
If I keep working at this pace, I’ll have them done by the end of summer. Merry Christmas in July!
UPDATE: I finished the scarves! You can read about them here.
